CVA Updates

January 6th

Little Dragon CVA parents,

Good afternoon. I hope this finds you doing well and staying healthy. I wanted to let you know about a few things we have coming up that specifically pertain to our CVA students.

Yearbook Pictures- On January 12th from 9:30-10:00 our CVA students will be able to come to school to have their picture made for the yearbook! Please enter through the front doors and come into the front office. One of our assistants will help your child get to the science lab for a picture and then bring them right back to you. There is no need to sign up in advance!

Ordering a Yearbook- If you wish to order a yearbook, please see the post on our school website. There are options to order online as well as by phone.

CVA Shirts- Our wonderful PTA is paying for a shirt for every CES CVA student! If you wish to order a shirt, please complete the following form by Friday, January 15. If you would like to join our PTA, please visit www.mycespta.org. As we will be ordering the exact, needed amount of each size, we will not be able to do any exchanges. CVA Parents-

I’m sure you have heard the talk about Dragon Dash! It is right around the corner! It will be held for in-person students on October 30th. While we are unable to invite your child to the school to run, we want them to be involved. Please take a video of your child running outside for a slideshow we will be compiling of our CVA students. This video will be emailed to you and can also be viewed on our CES PTA Facebook page in November! Feel free to encourage your student to dress in their Dragon Wear or get creative (Dragon tattoos, silly hairspray, etc). You can begin submitting your videos on Monday, October 12. The deadline for submissions will be Friday, October 30th.

We would also love your help in fundraising for your student! Dragon Dash is one of our biggest fundraisers and all the proceeds stay at our school! Please go to: www.getmovinfundraising.com to register your student. From there, you can share your child’s link to your social media and get family and friends to help your student raise money for our school. We are aware that this is a difficult time financially for many families. In light of this, we are forgoing larger prizes this year. We will be giving all students (including our CVA students) a commemorative item at the end of the event. (More details to follow on how to pick up your student's prize.) We are so excited to see all of our Little Dragons participate in Dragon Dash! We can’t wait to see your videos!

Sincerely,

Andrea McGhee, Fundraising Coordinator, CES PTA

Good afternoon. I hope this finds each of you doing well and staying safe. We wanted to share our plan for when the CVA students at Collierville Elementary School will order a class t-shirt. We have already heard from many of you that you plan to return to in-person learning in January. Therefore, we are going to wait until January to purchase class shirts for our CVA students as we want their colored shirt to match the class they will be joining. For those that choose for their student to continue with the CVA in January, a Collierville Elementary School CVA shirt will be purchased for your child at that time. As a reminder, our wonderful PTA is paying for these shirts for every student this year!

I also wanted to send a follow-up email to the one that was sent out on September 2nd concerning CVA yearbook pictures. The CVA will not be having their own separate yearbook so we will proceed with the plan detailed in that email that stated, “…we are having our photographer come back in January for all students that are returning to in-person school to have their picture taken. For those that choose to continue to do virtual learning in January and if the CVA does not do their own yearbook, you will have the option to send in a small, yearbook sized picture of your child to be included.” CVA students will also have the option to come by the school in January to get a school picture taken. More information will be sent out as the time approaches.

September 14th
Lunches for CVA students can be picked up in the back parking lot on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:15. If you pull up and no one is there, please wait for a moment as they may have gone inside to get additional lunches.

September 13th
Collierville Schools Tech Department is launching a district-wide IT Help Desk. The main purpose of the help desk is to be a technical resource for students and families during and after school hours. Please call (901) 910-1606 Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm to speak directly to a Collierville Schools IT representative.

Good morning. Some parents have asked questions about children that are in the CVA being included in our school's yearbook. I wanted to let you know that you will definitely have the option for your child to be included in one of two ways. One, the CVA may do their own yearbook that would include all children in the virtual academy. Two, we are having our photographer come back in January for all students that are returning to in-person school to have their picture made. For those that choose to continue to do virtual learning in January and if the CVA does not do their own yearbook, you will have the option to send in a small, yearbook sized picture of your child to be included.
